But she's more determined than ever to save her brother.Īs I mentioned, this book is as much as a thrill ride as the first book! This book is so fast-paced and so much happens, it's phenomenal! I still believe that this book series is unique in the world of YA. With the creators of the competition throwing more dangerous stuff in their way and the fellow competitors becoming harder to trust, Tella has her work cut out for her. She still has two more challenges to get through, each more challenging than the last. Tella has completed the first two challenges in the Brimstone Bleed, a competition she entered to save her brother, and she's getting closer to winning the cure. If only I could have one in real life.Īfter the brilliance of the first book, I was more than excited to jump into this book! This book was even more exciting than the first! Sure, there were some things that bugged me about this book, but overall, it moved very fast and the Pandoras saved the show for me. Let’s just say the first third of the book drove me crazy.įinal Verdict: I’m definitely still interested in this series and I want to see how it all ends. I can’t even start with the rest of the characters or I’d go on forever. Of course, I know that “actions speak louder than words”, but I need SOME words. And Guy irritated me with his inability to express his feelings. She wanted to strong and independent, yet she let people push her around and belittle her. Tells irritated me with how conflicting her thoughts and actions were.

Not only that, I couldn’t stand the way the characters were acting, especially Tella and Guy. For some reason, it felt so messy and inconsistent, like a hodge podge of things going on all at once.

Left Me Wanting More: I have to say, I did not like the beginning at all. There’s enough action and danger to keep you interested and the pacing was pretty quick. There are quite a few deaths and crazy moments in this book that shocked me and kept me glued to the pages. Also, the game itself was kicked up a notch. Tella definitely reminds me of Ash, how she cares for her Pandora, for all of them, and treats them with such love and respect.

Their relationship with their humans reminded me of Pokemon, that’s how I picture their dynamic in my head. What I Loved: The best part of this book was easily the Pandoras.
